I'm not myself tonight

Today I popped into town with my mum without expecting to buy much.. and as planned I spend under a tenner. This is only because I checked my boots offers on those little machines to see i had a voucher that meant as long as i bought one 17 product I got their new eye brightening concealer free.. so I picked out a blush got to the till and was told i could get another thing free.. so got two free things as a result! anyway after this little ramble heres what I bought

My mum also bought me:
Letters to Juliet DVD
Pantene Pro-V Colour Protect deep conditioner

What I bought:
L'oreal Casting creme gloss in light frosted blonde: £4.11 Boots
Collection 2000 shimmer and shade in just peachy: £1 Poundland
17 Blusher in First Flush: £3.50 Boots (I got Free)

17 Blush & Glow in Strawberry Swirl: £4 Boots

17 Hide and Chic Eye Brightening Concealer in Light Rose: £5 Boots (I got free)

2 May 2011

the dreams that you dare you dream really do come true.

I have decided that every month I am going to do a blog post on the things that if i had the money right now, I would of bought. I hope you enjoy :)

1. FoxyLocks Extensions - These have had such amazing reviews and after deciding not to grow my hair much longer to keep it looking healthy, I decided i would save up for some decent hair extensions for those days where I'm missing my long hair.

2. A 1 Inch Hair Curling Iron. -  I know these arent really that expensive, but being in school and not having a job means this is another thing to go on my wishlist. I really want something to help me achieve loosely curled hair and have done for ages now, but when i got my hair cut to my shoulders and had the money to buy one, it wasnt on my mind!

3. MAC face and body foundation - I have heard such good reviews about this product, and as far as MAC products go it is such good value for money.. I think it works out as cheaper than buying the amount of average priced drugstore foundation needed to fill the bottle. It is also a water based foundation which means its going to be better for my skin!

4.Sigma 12 brush brush set - I currently do not own any MAC or SIGMA make up brushes, and the set i have my eye on here has all the brushes I can see myself needing!

Like I said I hope you enjoyed reading this post, I'm sorry for the lack of pictures, I dont like using other peoples pictures in my posts :) I dont think I will be in possesion of these unless I get a job anytime soon ... but a girl can dream.

The Body Shop - Palettes

For christmas I was given a Body shop palette in twlight, my sister also got one which she has given to me but I don't know what its called. When I opened these I was so excited to use them! I had high expectations because I knew that they wouldn't of been cheap. however, when it came to using them I was quite dissapointed. The eyeshadows are extremely crumbly and chunky and the more matte colours have hardly any pigmentation. The highlighters that come in both .. which claim to be 'cream' are anything but. they come out like quite big particles of glitter.. I wore one one day and my friend told me I looked like I was going to a rave with all the glitter on my face.

The twilight Palette:

The colours in this palette are:

violet sky         damson velvet
                                                                                     pearl cream highlighter
lilac mist           pink champage

My favourite colour in this palette is pink champagne.. although it is rather shimmery, I love wearing it as a lid colour, the rest of these have gone virtually untouched.

 The Other Palette:

The colours in this Palette:

Starry Night     Pink Light
                                                                                  Lunar Cream Highlighter
Bronze blaze     Silver

My first criticism with this palette are the names, Bronze Blaze is more of an orange with slight shimmer, and Silver appears to be a frosty blue. Apart from starry night all these eyeshadows are very chunky and have to blended extremely well. I was so excited to use starry night because it looked beautiful (matte black with silver glitter) however I was wrong again. the black blends out to virtually nothing, leaving you with silver glitter. the cream highlighter was another let down. I thought this one would be better because it seems more gold toned, however again all you are left with is glitter on your face.

The only upside to these products is their packaging is nice (if not a little big) and the mirror is a decent size. the only time I really reach for these products is to use the mirror. This has definatley put me off buying any body shop make-up in the future without serious research into it.  I hate putting products down but this was just such a let down and I'm glad I didn't buy them with my own money!

Until next time.. Laura x

Make You Feel My Love...

I know its an unusual time to do a 'favourites' style blog post. BUT there are so many things I am loving right now I just couldn't wait until the end of the month to tell you all! This month i have had virtually no money due to a phone breakage and have had to make do with what I already own (not a hard task I know) and not go out and buy anything! so here is everything I love right now!

1. Brown satchel bag - New Look £25

I LOVE THIS BAG! it is gorgeous, i love the reddish/brown colour and the fact its one of the only satchels i have found which i could carry on my arm! its very very roomy and is ideal for everyday!

2.The Undomestic Goddess - Sophie Kinsella (borrowed)

This book is one of those typical girly books about a romance... which I love! it was a bit slow to start but a few chapters in and I just wanted to carry on reading and not put it down! even if it is slightly predictable!

3. Grey Ankle Boots - New Look £10 (sale)

I was looking for a pair of boots like this for ages, and none of them that i tried on seemed to look right until I tried these on, and at £10 what a steal.

4.MUA lipstick in shade 7 - superdrug £1

It is a gorgeous vibrant coral pink colour, i have been looking for one of these for ages, who would of thought I would find an ideal one in the MUA section of superdrug!

5. Maybelline Lash Stilletto Mascara (present)

I have naturally long eyelashes so a lengthening mascara doesn't normally make too much difference but i love the volumizing effect, even though thats not what it's aimed at, it just gives me lovely lashes!

6.Max Factor sample lipgloss 'Vibrant Curve Effect' in Majeste

This lipgloss has absolutely no staying power whatsoever, and the special wand its advertised with is no different to any other lipgloss BUT I do love the colour!

7.collection 2000 Hot Looks Nail Polish in Parma Violet (present)

This is always on my nails (saying that it isn't right now) but these nail varnishes are excellent quality or their price and this colour is a fabulous purple/navy and I love layering my Barry M Pink Iridescent over the top!

8. ELF eye brightening quad in Blue Moon - ELF website £1.50

This is One of my favourite quads from ELF, i love the pigmentation and the fact they are such everyday colours. the two darker colours are matte, and the two lighter colours are slightly shimmery (the cream colour is an excellent highlight!)

Not buying make-up this past month has definitely allowed me to find some hidden treasures in my small but growing make-up collection :)

Review - Bourjois Bio-Detox

This is the Bourjois' latest foundation (as far as I'm aware) and I have been meaning to try one for ages, and as soon as I saw it was 'healthy' for my skin I was sold!claiming to detoxify your skin by being anti-pollutant, and containing chlorophyll (found in plants) to bring in oxygen I was a bit wary but i bought it anyway and this is what i found...

What I love about this foundation:
- It makes my skin look amazing!
- The shades are very true to skin tones (not too orange/pink/yellow)
- I like to believe it is the reason my skin has improved and is the clearest it has been in a while
- Buildable coverage

What I dislike about this foundation:
- It is a weird consistency for a liquid and dries very quickly
- I can't apply it with my fingers properly
- I have to use a pump and a half-2 pumps which means it will go quickly (and its not that cheap)

Overall the pro's outweigh the con's and it is currently my go-to foundation daily!
If anyone has any foundations they recommend for combination skin with good coverage comment below...
