7 August 2011

I have spent the past few weeks wondering what to blog about, and even when I have gone shopping I have just lost my blogging motivation. BUT today after I had eaten my dinner i noticed I had awful roots.. then thought I would tell you all about my bad experience with GARNIER BELLE COLOUR hair dye in their lightest shade.

I can tell you that I am not allergic to bleach, nor hair dye generally and in the past I have used home hair dyes and hairdressers to get lighter blonde hair. So I thought that I wouldn't have an issue with this one. I didn't do a skin allergy test for 2 reasons 1. I didn't think I would be allergic seeing as I have used bleach which as strong as you get surely and 2. I don't quite know how to do one because your not supposed to leave hair dye opened. ANYWAY as soon as the hair dye was on my head I felt a slight burning on my scalp but though nothing of it because I wondered if maybe I had a small cut or something on my head. I was sooo impressed with the colour after as well and thought i had found my go-to hair dye.. then about a week and a half later (this surely wouldn't of shown up in any allergy test anyway?) my face became very dry, especially on the middle of my forehead (which is usually oily) and around my eyes. This meant that make-up looked disastrous on me! and whenever I put anything on the skin it stung crazily! I have only just got rid of the dryness on my forehead and its still there on my eyes weeks later! However this wasn't the worst of it.. I also have red dry patches of skin on my neck similar looking to ringworm.. and so that's what i presumed it was however (thank you internet) I googled hair dye reactions and there are several images (some worse than my own) that depict the same thing.. dry skin on the face and red dry patches on the neck.

I my not be experiencing a reaction to the hair dye as I haven't been diagnosed, however I haven't changed make-up products lately or even skincare products definitely not for a good month before this reaction showed up anyway. and another factor that makes me think this is linked is the reactions people have had to garnier summerbody.. I am aware these are two very different products however this reaction came about the same time as the people who were using summerbody.

I still have dry patches on my face/neck and I think that this may ave contributed to me not wanting to blog lately because my idea have been FOTD which I haven't felt comfortable showing for obvious reasons. unfortunately I do not have any pictures of my skin to show you and I also haven't contacted garnier because their words of sympathy and a few garnier vouchers wont improve my skin! I have heard from others that garnier hair dye has had this affect on them and feel free to comment below if you have had similar experiences.

Sorry for my garnier rant just thought i would warn you of my experiences and ask if any of you have any remedy for this because no exfoliating or moisturiser seems to help! and if i use oily moisturiesrs i just develop spots under the dry skin!

hopefully next time will be a happier post

have you ever thrown a fistful of glitter in the air

until about March I had only coloured my hair twice.. both times i had bleach highlights and high lift. I had this done again in March and as much of a difference as it made I wasn't fully happy with the results. so when i had enough root to irritate me i bought a packet of hair dye (fully aware of the mess my hair could potentially turn into) and so I chose L'oreal Casting Creme Gloss in light frosted blonde. It promised a cool toned blonde several shades lighter than my current hair colour. Alas this was not the case. I was about a shade lighter and the difference was hardly noticeable. all that happened was my roots werent quite as obvious. Un happy with the outcome again I was looking for a blonde hair dye strong enough to give me light blonde hair without using plain bleach.. just to avoid the dullness. And so i found garnier belle colour in the lightest shade. I believe it contains hydrogen peroxide.. however it doesnt give you that same one colour look you get with plain old bleach. Obviously this product wasnt going to get 5 stars because its a packet of hair dye... my roots have a gingerish tinge to them however i am happy with the results.. I just need two packets next time as unfortunately one packet wasnt quite enough. I will be using this product again when i need to re do my hair (unless it is this i have had a reaction to!) my hair is now a light golden colour with a few tones in to give it that slightly more natural feel.

SO heres a picture of my hair at the moment. .. excuse the fact my hair looks white.. its the only way to take a decent picture using this webcam!

until next time... Laura xx

a heart plus a heart...

When I died my hair a few weeks back I decided to buy a deep conditioner to revive it from the dye and also from all the heat I use to tame my hair. I stumbled across Pantene Pro-V Colour Protect 2 Min Damage Rescue Treatment. This product claims to be "protection and vibrancy for all coloured or highlighted hair" I was definitely expecting to have soft silky hair.. which is definitely what I am left with, however I'm not sure this does much for the colour.. but I am also using Paul Smith Blonde shampoo.. overall I will say its definitely good for bringing your hair back to life, mine feels super soft and silky and my split ends seem to have dissapeared on the most part. This is definitely a product I recomend for hair that isn't too damaged. If you have tried this product on super damaged hair please comment your results!

When I use this product I take a scoop out with my fingers and put that on the ends then focus the rest on the roots and use any extra if I need to. I use it on My roots because its supposed to help my colour vibrancy and to read my fringe because that is definitely one of the most damaged parts of my hair from those straighteners. I also tend to leave it on for between 2-5 minutes instead of the 2 it says just to help make my hair extra soft. I use this every Sunday night then mid-week I use the Paul Smith condition to match the blonde shampoo I'm currently using just to improve the condition of my hair. This is because I'm trying to grow my hair back to length it was about this time last year so am not going to the hairdressers.. because that always results in me wanting to do something drastic.

Until next time,

5 April 2011

I feel half of my blog posts are apologies for being a lazy cow and not posting.. but this time I genuinley had no laptop! So from now I am going to be more of a blogger and aim to get my followers up to 100 within the month.. difficult task but I will try, so please broadcast this on twitter, tell your friends  (follow me @09lauraspain) because I would love to do a giveaway at 100 followers. this probably sounds so desperate . sorry!
So this isn't a useless blog post you all read and thought urgh what a waste of time! i thought i would include a small update!

1. Hair - anyone who follows me on twitter (@09lauraspain) will be aware that I have had my hair 'dyed' .. its now much much lighter thanks to bleach highlights and a high-lift (hairdressers please tell me what this is exactly?) so here is a picture of my new blonde hair :)

does anyone know of any light packet hair dyes hat arent bleach that i can use to maintain this kind of light blonde because I can't afford to fork out for hairdessers every few weeks?

2. School: I am only a 16 year old girl, studying for my AS exams... and in only a matter of weeks will be sitting them! so i have lots of revision to fit in.. but thankfully with the easter holidays not even a week away im sure i will be able to fit in some blog posts.. so don't lose hope on me just yet!

3. Money: i still have no money.. in fact i currently have 6p to my name... and so haven't done much shopping lately however my lovely mum has taken me out a couple of times and so i do have a couple of things to show you that will feature in another post.

apart from matters of my life which I'm sure none of you are too fussed about.. thats about it of my boring life right now... will put another post up tomorrow!
